Recently
Another month gone way, way too fast. I wasn’t planning for this to be the second post after my previous monthly recap, but alas, sometimes life gets in the way.
On the weather front, although we got another winter storm, overall it was nicer than January and, on some days, almost too warm even.
Doing
Busy month at home and at work. Not much time for side projects, other than slowly moving forward with the redesign of this website. Could I do it way faster with LLMs? Sure, but I’m enjoying the process, and going old-school actually makes it more… meaningful, dare I say?
In the spirit of trying something new, we finally visited Farewell. The coffee is as good as people say, even though their pour-over selection that day wasn’t my cup of tea (pun intended).
Reading
Maybe I’m getting old, or maybe it’s the current political climate, but I’ve been reading 1984 and, oh boy, does it feel different this time. I’m still going through it, taking my time and enjoying all the little things I didn’t notice (or don’t remember noticing) in previous readings. Next in the queue is How to Make the Best Coffee at Home by James Hoffmann, so I can go deeper into my coffee-brewing rabbit hole.
Riding
Four rides outside. Another 100+ miles on the trainer. It beats the previous month for sure, but with a big (for me) race coming up in July, I need to start doing longer rides (both on the trainer and out on the trails) and more structured riding sessions (intervals, longer climbs, etc.). Small wins: getting more comfortable on the new bike, riding a couple of new-to-me trails in the area, and tackling a short section of probably the steepest trail I have ridden in WNC.
Watching
To continue with the bikepacking theme started last month, my favorite watch this month is DOOM: The Documentary. I have been to Northwest Arkansas multiple times but I need to spend some time riding in the Ozarks too.
